First Indian actress to receive Meryl Streep Award for Excellence, made as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Former Miss World Aishwarya is being given this award for her contribution to the Indian film industry.

Bollywood Desk Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Awards have been set up to honor movies and television's best female actress. Bollywood and Hollywood's Female Best Actress will be selected under these awards. For the first time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been selected from the Indian Film Industry for the Merrill Strip Excellence Award.
